Brideview/Valley complete club doubles – Ned Barry Cup games this Sunday
It’s that time of year again when our winter rest from GAA activities is nearly over and some of the teams are starting to go back training. This year we have four teams playing in the premier division U14 football and hurling and our U15s are in the premier also in hurling and football.
The football is the first to kick off and next Saturday sees our U14 footballers take on Midleton in Midleton in the league starting at 1 pm. This U14 team got a run out last Sunday when they took on Cahir in a challenge match. Town had a few of their regulars missing but still managed to fill a strong team. From the start we played as a team passing the ball around and taking some great scores. The defence fought for every ball and put in a trogon effort all through the game.
The lads in the centre of the park made some great runs and raised the white flag a few times. Our forwards gave a great performance and worked tireless to score a hat full of goals. Jack O’Brien as usual did an outstanding job in goals and hopefully he has a quiet year ahead of him. So this Saturday come and support our U14s in Midleton with good support it’s like having an extra man on the field.
SPONSORED WALK
Thanks again to everyone who took part in our sponsored walk and to those who subscribed so generously to help finance some of the day to day running of our club. Without your generosity we could not keep the club going so thanks again. Any remaining sponsorship cards should be handed in as soon as possible so we can go ahead with the prize draw.
MOUTHGUARD CLUB OFFER
Following a meeting with Derek O’Riordan, of The New Square Dental Clinic in Mitchelstown, the juvenile club is pleased to offer its members custom made mouth guards at cost price. This offer is open to members of all ages. These mouth guards will offer the best protection against dental and oral injury and will not affect a player’s performance. The dentist takes an impression of your teeth and a mouth guard is then moulded using the model.
These mouth guards are available in club colours and the child’s name will also feature on the mouth guard. Also provided is a case in which to store the mouth guard when not in use. The mouthguards cost €40 each. While this may seem more expensive than other types of mouth guards available, custom made mouth guards provide most comfort and protection. Any member wishing to avail of this offer should let their trainer/coach know. Do not attend the clinic on an individual basis as to avail of this offer the club has to organize a time schedule with Derek and anybody that attends the clinic outside of this will have to pay full costs.
Mouth guards are mandatory in all Gaelic football matches and training sessions since January 1st, 2013 for all age grades up to and including minor.
MEMBERSHIP
Membership forms should be with everyone by now and it is important that they are filled up and handed back with the money as soon as possible so that your child can be registered with the county board. This year we have a start up pack where by any new member who joins will get a hurley, helmet and membership for €100.
