It is said that everyone has a story to tell, but this Christmas, a wonderful festive play written by sixth class student, Emily Keyes, from Knockadea NS, captured the hearts and imaginations of students and parents alike.
Staged on Monday night, December 16, the play was written by Emily with the help of her teacher and Principal Aileen O'Dwyer and with input from her classmates.
The play, which was performed in the annual Christmas concert, tells the story of a child who is having trouble in school and they suddenly find that they have a great voice. With the help and encouragement from school friends, the student starts to shine and it shows how friendship and kindness can make so much difference to someone.
Just last week, the students from Knockadea NS travelled to Dublin to perform in the Young Voices Hallelujah Concert and as they had been practicing so hard in anticipation of that big day, many of the songs from that choir festival also featured in their Christmas play.
Writing is something which Emily would like to do when she gets older and certainly penning a play before she even gets into secondary school is a great way to start.
