This week it has been harder than ever to keep up with the Kardashians, as media outlets across the world speculated as to where Kim Kardashian and Kanye West were honeymooning after their Italian wedding. However, earlier this week, it was confirmed that the star studded couple had in fact been hiding away in the bliss of Castle Oliver and while in the area, they went for a cycle and hike up the Ballyhoura Mountains and enjoyed a picnic of local artisan food. 

While it was widely known that the couple would honeymoon in Ireland, as Kim wanted to follow in her own parent's footsteps in that regard, their destinations of choice were shrouded in mystery, so much so that many people believed that they were in Castlemartyr after they came into Cork Airport by private jet. 

Fergal Somers of Ballyhoura Failte also confirmed to The Avondhu that they took two VIP's among a total group of six up the Ballyhoura Mountains for a cycle, hike and picnic.

"They couldn't get over the wildlife, as they could hear the chorus of songbirds in the spring time. They hadn't experienced anything like it before and had never been so close to nature before - it was a cracking day," he told The Avondhu, adding that they saw foxes, hares, the rare hen harrier and many other animals while up the mountains.

It's hard to imagine that the much sought after celebrities managed to avoid the media or the public in general while touring such a popular tourist area, but Fergal said that they brought them to the mountain 'up the back'.

Before departing, the guests indulged in a luxurious picnic packed with local artisan food produce from A Taste of Ballyhoura.

Fergal added that they respected the privacy of their VIP's and didn't bring a camera with them, as they were only interested in showing them the best the area had to offer.

According to local sources, staff from the luxurious Castle Oliver were dismissed with pay for the week, while the elite guests moved in and a number of black mercedes were sighted in the Glenosheen/Ardpatrick area.

Surprisingly, there was just one comment on the Castle Oliver website asking if they had any celeb newly wed guests.

Cleverly building on the hype that surrounded the visit, Castle Oliver had a link on their Facebook page on reminding people that the castle, located outside Ballyorgan, in Ardpatrick, is reopening for house tours at the end of this month.

Their website revealed that the castle will be open from Saturday, May 31 until September 28 on weekends and bank holidays only with guided tours at 12noon, 2pm and 4pm on the days it's open.
