Officers and members of progressive soccer club, Kilworth Celtic FC, were thrilled with the level of support their recent race night received.
In challenging economic times, the club have drawn up ambitious plans to develop a green field site, a short distance outside the village. When complete, the facility - to be known as Sheila Flynn Park - will include two full size pitches, an astro turf training facility, dressing rooms, car park and a walking track which will be open to the public.

The race night which took place in The Village Inn last Friday night attracted a bumper crowd, who were in turn treated to a fantastic evening's entertainment. The 'nuts and bolts' of the race night format were overseen by Jonathan O'Neill and Pat Geary of Emerald Race Nights.

TREMENDOUS SUPPORT

As with all fundraisers, success depends on the effort put in by organisers and Kilworth Celtic, under the direction of chairman, Gus Shanahan, pulled out all the stops to ensure maximum return. Speaking at last weekend's fundraiser, Gus said the response had been fantastic.
"We approached a lot of individuals and businesses in the run up to the race night and got a great response, everyone gave very generously and for this we are most grateful. As well as Jonathan and Pat, I want to thank my fellow committee members for their time and commitment. I also wish to thank all those who sponsored or supported us in any way". Gus went on to acknowledge the role played by Chris O'Brien and The Village Inn, who came on board as main sponsors.
