This year, The Village Arts Centre (VAC), Kilworth celebrated 15 years of hosting the very best of Bluegrass music in conjunction with Mr Bluegrass himself, Mr John Nyhan.

Continuing the trend, both the VAC and John are thrilled to be inviting back the Berea Bluegrass All-Stars on Monday night, May 13. And not just that – because also on the bill will be master flatpicking guitarist and vocalist Beppe Gambetta – also making a return visit.

A vocal powerhouse, the Berea Bluegrass All-Stars received a massive ovation on their last visit to Kilworth so impressed were those in attendance and the band members look forward to giving more of the same on the 13th May.

BEPPE GAMBETTA

From his unique background as an Italian musician in love with both American roots music as well as the music of his native country, Beppe Gambetta has travelled the world and even crossed the “Iron Curtain” to dazzle and charm music enthusiasts everywhere. After eleven CDs, DVDs, teaching books and collaborations with many other top-flight musicians, Gambetta is increasingly known as one of the true live master innovators of the acoustic guitar.

Admirers would say it is the smile that is the key for reading the musical universe of Beppe Gambetta. An open and disarming smile that is also the contagious and unresistable smile of a person who invites you to a musical journey with light heart and curiosity.

As this double bill is expected to attract a capacity crowd, patrons are advised to book early for John Nyhan himself on 087-7921771 or from the usual VAC outlets – The Avondhu office, Fermoy (025-32227); Cotter’s Kilworth (025-27109); Hyland’s Bookshop, Mitchelstown (025-24528) or from 087-6492514.
