The prayers of a small country town were answered on Sunday last when the Limerick hurlers brought the Liam MacCarthy Cup back to the Treaty County for the the first time in 45 years.
Kilfinane, the first town to win an All-Ireland title, were praying for divine intervention with Sister Patricia Coughlan, who can lay claim to being the Treaty County’s most devoted supporter, leading the prayers.
Sr Patricia – who was a camogie goalkeeper and coached the local team in her parish – even found a special hurler’s prayer which had been placed on the altar and wore her green and white shirt whilst giving out Communion over the weekend.
