A Kilfinane teenager has won an amazing road trip holiday in California. Nineteen year old John Carroll won the two week road trip for two adults valued at €18,000 after he signed up for the Topaz loyalty game Play or Park at the Cashel motorway site, on the urging of a friend a few weeks ago.

The trip includes the hire of a convertible car, accommodation in top of the range hotels in San Francisco, Santa Cruz, Santa Barbara, Las Vegas and Beverley Hills as well as helicopter flights over the Grand Canyon and Los Angeles’s beaches. The prize also includes €5,000 spending money.

“Even though I’m a fairly lucky person it was a fair shock to the system. At first I couldn’t believe it when I got the call and I thought it was one of the lads messing. But then it sank in and I’m still over the moon. My family and friends are in shock as well,” John said.

And who will he bring on the trip? “Well when I was ten my mum Siobhan brought me to Florida so now I can pay her back and bring her to California,” joked John.

Paul Candon, the marketing and corporate services director at Topaz said everyone at the company was thrilled for John, his mum Siobhan and all his family and friends.

“Play or Park is our interactive loyalty game and it’s all about rewarding lucky customers like John. It really is a trip of a lifetime and we’re sure they’ll have a fantastic time in California.

"The next couple of weeks we will be celebrating the success of Play or Park by giving away an experience of a lifetime to the customer who makes the one millionth play. We expect we’ll reach that landmark in the next week or so and the lucky winner will be presented with their choice of the twelve monthly prizes,” Paul concluded.
