Around 100 people attended the book launch of ‘Pictorial Memories of Kilfinane, Vol II’ in Scoil Pól last weekend, with strong sales of the book noted in the run up to Christmas.

Kilfinane Photographic Society member Hugh Murphy, told The Avondhu that the event was a resounding success, with people from both the locality and further afield attending. He said a number of people whose parents would have originally been from Kilfinane were present.

On the sales of the book, he said: "We sold a good few on the night and we have them in the shops around town and they're selling very well. We brought out 800 and we expect to have half of them gone by Christmas. It's being very well received," he said, adding that plans are afoot for a third volume in two years time, and people are welcome to provide photographs to the society for same.

The books can be purchased from local businesses: Sheehy’s Centra, Neilus Hennessy Butcher, Harry Murphy Shop & Petrol Station, Powers Pharmacy Post Office and Henry McCarthy’s. The price is €20.
