Kildorrery looks ahead to ‘Cork’s Fittest Superstars’ launch

GOT THERE IN THE END! Participants in Cork's Fittest Superstars in Kildorrery in July 2023, were l-r: Scott Baigent, Dan Hennessy, Sile Fitzgerald and Mícheál Collins.

With half of the 50 spots already reserved, organisers are urging those who intend to take part in Cork’s Fittest Superstars in Kildorrery to get their skates on and register by April 6th.

On that day, Davy Fitzgerald will be at the GAA grounds in the village from 6pm until 8pm to give a briefing to the teams for what they can expect. While the teams get mentally fit for what’s ahead, earlier that day a juvenile ballathon will be held from 3pm until 6pm, and a BBQ will also be held for all present.

2024 is the second year that the athletic endeavour will be hosted in Kildorrery, with all funds raised going towards the astroturf development for the GAA grounds as well as other community development projects.

Speaking with The Avondhu, Eamonn McCarthy thanked all the sponsors from both last year and this year, and announced the news that this year, all team entries have their own sponsorship link on iDonate (search for ‘Corks Fittest Superstars’).

The competition, which takes place on Saturday 1st June, comes with a prize of €5,000 for the winners, and bragging rights for a lifetime. Sponsored by Sorensen’s Engineering and Cobi Sports, the event is also supported by Cork County Council, Pure Cork and Fáilte Ireland.

Registration can be made by contacting Eamonn on 087 926 7156 or Louise on 087 922 4961.
