Kilbehenny National School have received a Gold Eco Ranger Award and a special award for protecting and preserving biodiversity. The children completed an Eco Rangers Project which was all about protecting and preserving biodiversity and identifying potential risks to it, and were delighted to be one of the finalists at the Eco Ranger's Awards.  Bord na Móna sponsors the programme and their aim is to make all children 'Guardians of the Land.' This is the first year of the project and 660 schools took part. Kilbehenny NS, through their hard work secured a place in the National Final, one of only 12 schools to get to that stage.
