Former Kerry senior footballer Kieran Donaghy of PST Sport visited Sheila Flynn Park, Kilworth this week as Kilworth Celtic FC make plans for their new Astro Turf facility.

The progressive soccer club aim to have top of the range facilities and expect their new clubhouse to be completed by November.

Roof trusses were fitted this week and club members are confident that the roof will be completed by the end of this month along with windows and doors installed.

When complete this new development will include 4 dressing rooms, a referee’s room, meeting room, utility room and toilets with disabled access.

The committee, not wishing to rest on their laurels, have also applied for funding to have an astro pitch installed. The proposed all-weather pitch will measure 45mtr x 25mtr and will add significantly to the club’s facilities.

Having access to modern facilities was vital for the long term progression of the club and members are appealing to supporters and the local community to continue to support the various streams of fundraising initiatives by the club.

Established in 1996, Kilworth Celtic already has two full sized pitches which are in very regular use. The club has a number of youth teams and an increasingly popular women’s team. Off-field achievements mirror the club’s on-field successes which have been considerable in recent years.

On a strong financial footing and with a group of committed volunteers driving things forward, there are lots of good days ahead for everyone associated with Kilworth Celtic.
