Last Thursday, kids from Kevin McCormack’s theatrical summer camp performed a flash mob on Patrick’s Street in Fermoy. Dancing and singing to their heart’s content they performed two numbers on the day - ‘Shake Your Tail Feather’ and ‘Proud Mary.’

Each year, Kevin McCormack runs a theatrical summer camp for youths aged 9 to 16 in Fermoy, ably assisted by choreographer Jenny Hoare an camp leader, Sarah Cloney.

The theme for this year’s camp was ‘The Screaming Sixties.” Campers were given a flavour of the era as they rehearsed chorus routines to the music of Ray Charles, The Beatles, Tom Jones and Tina Turner to name but a few, as well as learning comedy routines originally written and performed by Monty Python, Bob Newhart, Peter Cook, Dudley Moore and many other comedy icons of the 1960s.

Kids always enjoy themselves at the camp all the while learning great skills in acting, comedy, song and dance and gaining in confidence as a result.

To round off the summer camp, a showcase is performed for the families and friends of the campers which is always a huge hit with all involved.

The flash mob has also been an integral part of the camp for the last number of years and has proved to be, yet again, a great success.
