Many local charities go about their business year in, year out with little fanfare or publicity, while quietly doing good work. One such group is Fermoy and District Lourdes fundraising committee who raise funds annually to bring people to Lourdes, particularly the infirm or invalided, who would otherwise be unable to pay the cost of the trip from their own resources.

They have been bringing groups to Lourdes for many years and will go again on June 1. As part of their fundraising, a social with dancing was held in Kades Kounty in Glenville on Saturday night last.

It was a good night with a sizeable turn out, Gerry Galvin, one of the organisers, reported. He thanked all who had supported the event in any way.
