One of Cork’s most decorated hurlers, Joe Deane, will be taking a trip down memory lane with a nostalgic tour of Croke Park as part of the Bord Gáis Energy GAA Legends Tour Series at the GAA Museum.

The tour, which takes place on Saturday, July 28 ahead of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Semi-Final meeting of Galway and Clare, will give hurling fans a behind-the-scenes view of GAA headquarters from the unique perspective of a man who was so often the match-winner on the biggest days for Cork in Croke Park.

Joe arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of 15 as a dual player with the Cork hurling and football teams, going on to win three All Ireland Senior Hurling Championship titles with Cork. He also won three All Star Awards during his illustrious inter-county career spanning 13 years between 1996 and 2009.

The dangerous full-forward racked up a career tally of 10 goals and 237 points making him Cork’s third highest Championship scorer of all time.

Speaking ahead of his tour, Joe Deane said: “It’s a pleasure to be involved in the Bord Gáis Energy GAA Legends Tours at the GAA Museum and, looking at the list of former hurlers and footballers involved in this year’s programme, it’s particularly flattering to be in such esteemed company.”

“I’m looking forward to revisiting Croke Park at such an exciting time for Cork Hurling. A lot of time has passed since our All-Ireland success but the excitement around the current crop of players has people reminiscing of those past victories. It will be an enjoyable experience re-living my playing years with fans on July 28 for the tour.”

The Bord Gáis Energy GAA Legends Tour Series was first introduced in 2008 by the GAA Museum and offers fans an unforgettable opportunity to hear memories and anecdotes first hand from their GAA heroes.

All Bord Gáis Energy GAA Legends Tours include a trip to the GAA Museum, which is home to many exclusive exhibits, including the official GAA Hall of Fame and a new exhibition celebrating 20 years of the museum. Advance online booking is essential as the tours sell out quickly.
