Jimmy Fitzgerald, who works and trains in Fermoy, is set to face up against some of the best at the World Masters Classic & Equipped Powerlifting Championships this October.

Taking place in Sun City, South Africa from October 5 to 13, Jimmy and the Irish squad will set out on October 1st, with the heavy lifting beginning on the first day of competition.

For Mr Fitzgerald, who runs Every Blooming Thing on MacCurtain Street, it will be his first Irish cap for powerlifting, having competed as a teenager and taking up the sport once again about 10 years ago.
