Work on Conna’s new water scheme will begin in earnest in early January, members of the Fermoy Electoral Area Committee of Cork County Council were told at their December meeting. They were advised that a road closure will be in place, but that local access will be maintained.
News of the new water scheme was widely welcomed locally, as there had been serious problems with supply for a long time. Traditionally it was provided by means of local boreholes pumping into a small reservoir with limited storage. Under phase 1 of the new Conna Regional Water Supply Scheme a new reservoir will be built and an upgraded distribution system established, to serve the village from the existing regional water supply scheme.
Funding of €0.61M has been allocated for the scheme.
