Heartless burglars continue to target Mass-goers in Avondhu area

A spate of robberies which have taken place recently around Mass times, has seen gardai request the public to exercise extra vigilance to help deter such activity.

Gardai believe burglars are continuing their modus operandi of targeting houses left unoccupied while people attend Mass.

Three such incidents occurred last weekend. In the first, in Labbamolagga, on the Limerick Road in Mitchelstown on Saturday night last, entry was gained to a house through a front window. A sum of money and jewellery was taken. The burglars are believed to have exited the house the same way as they entered.

Two other houses nearby were also broken into. A sum of cash was taken in one, but nothing was stolen from the other, though both were ransacked.

VIGILANCE NEEDED

The latest incidents follow similar break-ins in Ballyhooly, Kilworth and Glanworth before Christmas and Gardai are urging householders to be extra careful in securing their properties and protecting their valuables while away from their homes, at set times such as Mass times.
