The long running saga of the James Street Car Park in Mitchelstown looks set to be coming to an end as a senior council official has confirmed that work is set to begin on the site.

It is understood that a legal letter of complaint from a local man who was using the land had stalled the project, but the council have decided to push ahead with the project as no further contact has been received.  

Cllr Deirdre O’Brien said she received confirmation from James Fogarty, Divisional Manager of Cork County Council, that the project will begin later this year.
