Cork Chamber has long been an advocate in calling for the timely implementation of flood relief schemes in areas affected by flooding events across the city and county.

The region once again faced the stark reality of such events over the most recent Christmas period with businesses and homeowners overwhelmed by the immediate damage of such events and consequently, the difficulties in securing insurance for their properties.

In light of this, Cork Chamber on Tuesday welcomed a visit to Fermoy from representatives of Zurich Insurance where the purpose was to assess for themselves the flood defences that were erected in the town.

Zurich Insurance will take any additional relevant information into account, such as the efficacy and robustness of flood defences, when assessing the viability of providing wider flood cover in areas impacted by flooding.
