A sunny day, exciting soccer and a huge crowd. Last Saturday’s tournament in Ballylooby was a resounding success – it was also an emotional day for all concerned, because, it was an event that the late Ronan Dwyer from Croughatour would have relished.

An all round sportsman, Ronan was an especially talented soccer player, having spent time with local clubs Vee Rovers, Cahir Park and St. Kieran’s. His competitive streak would have ensured he’d have given his all for whatever team he was playing for, he’d have been central to the post match celebrations and would have eagerly anticipated England’s showdown with Spain in the Euros final last weekend.

Sadly, Ronan’s life was cut short following an accident on Sunday, 16th July 2023. Missed by his many friends, Ronan’s loss is most keenly felt by his immediate and extended family. Still grieving a much loved son and brother, the Dwyer family were very supportive of last Saturday’s inaugural Ronan Dwyer Memorial Soccer Tournament played at the impressive complex in Killroe.
