Around 100 new jobs are to be created once the new Tesco store in Fermoy opens its doors.
On Thursday last, September 5, the sod was turned on site by Tánaiste Micheál Martin and Geoff Byrne, COO of Tesco Ireland, following a lengthy period of speculation as locals closely watched any movement at the site in recent times.
Located off Mill Road and Courthouse Road, it is expected that the development will be operational in summer 2025.
Speaking on the day, the Tánaiste said that the new development was evidence that Fermoy is a growing town.
“I think it is evidence of a growing town and a growing population across the country because …” he said.
