The Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association were the big winners in the recent Ice Bucket Challenge, however, other excellent causes also benefited, namely, St Patrick's Community Hospital in Fermoy - the hospital has management and staff at Riordan's SuperValu in Fermoy to thank for remembering them.

Long serving hospital association fundraising committee member, Tom Barry from Rathcormac, had the pleasant task last week of accepting a cheque for €720 - part proceeds of the challenge. Accompanying Tom were his wife, Nellie, grandson, Alan Barry along with fellow association members, Con Savage and Tadhg O'Donovan. Riordan's SuperValu were represented by managing director, Michael Riordan, and his management team of: Sean Cotter, Colm Donnellan, Philip Quinn and Kay O'Regan.

Commenting after the official handover, Tadhg acknowledged the generosity of the Riordan's SuperValu team.

"It was very considerate of Michael and his staff to make such a generous gesture to Fermoy Hospital and it illustrates once again the esteem in which the hospital is held," he said.
