Huge outpouring of grief for Cora

The news on Saturday afternoon that 51 year old Mitchelstown woman Cora O’Grady, had died on Galtymore while she and her two children had been taking part in the Climb For Charlie, rocked the entire area.

Cora fell ill at approximately 1pm near the summit and was pronounced dead an hour later by medics who fought to save her.

A Gofundme page, set up by a group of Cora’s friends for the welfare of her children Luke (11) and Lily (8) had, up to the time of writing, exceeded €52,000 with more than a thousand donors having subscribed.

Speaking on behalf of Cora's family, a family friend thanked all those who assisted at the scene on Saturday when the sad event happened,

Cora will be laid to rest following Requiem Mass at 12 noon in the Church of Mary Conceived Without Sin on Friday, in the adjoining cemetery.
