A lot of greasepaint has been applied and removed since 1924, when the fledgling Fermoy Choral Society (now known as Fermoy Musical Society) staged, Trial By Jury.

90 plus years later, this progressive group continue to create, innovate and most critically of all, entertain.

For 2016, the society, under charismatic president, Dr. Tom Beresford, chose Hot Mikado, an adaptation of The Mikado by Gilbert and Sullivan.

For a variety of reasons, this selection was challenging, or 'very difficult' as director, Killian Collins concedes in his programme notes. Pointing out the obvious, it isn't, Calamity Jane, Oklahoma or Annie Get Your Gun – in fact there's isn't a straw chewin', low down varmint in sight!.
