Proposals for an access road from the N72 at the Hospital Road in Fermoy to the M8 have been shot down as Transport Infrastructure Ireland said that the scheme ‘would be unlikely to be successful’.
News of this comes in recent correspondence from TII to the Fermoy Municipal District which met on Tuesday of this week.
On the foot of renewed calls for an on/off access road to the M8 from the N72, which received strong support from local elected members in light of heavy traffic congestion in the town of Fermoy, the Fermoy MD wrote to TII requesting such.
