While we continue to moan of doom and  gloom and wonder if the good days will ever come again, some young people who are showing extra special entrepreneurial skills, might just be the ones who will haul us out of this terrible mess we find ourselves in.
This week we highlight the feats of a 12 year old schoolboy who has signed a contract with a media company and now has his work featuring on YouTube. We also feature a 16 year old schoolgirl who is producing her own jewellery and taking it into the public arena. This weekend too, students from Loreto are in the national finals of Junk Kouture with their amazing creation of a gown made basically from  junk. And there are many other young people throughout our readership area making their mark and showing us that, given the chance, they can do it.
It gives us some ray of hope perhaps that as those in Government, in the banks and in power generally who have made a mess of this country over the past decade or so move ever closer to their pensions, it is these young entrepreneurs and their kind that will be filling the void and will hopefully be putting our country back on a more firm footing.
It is good too to see that new ideas are not all internet-based and while we wish 12 year old Samier all the best with his future creations, let us give all the encouragement and support we can to anyone who has the foresight and the courage to pursue their dream.  There will always be new ideas and opportunities –  let’s not be afraid to manipulate them to the full!
