Knocklong History and Heritage group are hosting ‘An Afternoon Of History’ in Knocklong Hall from 3 to 5pm on Sunday, December 29.

Knocklong History and Heritage group are hosting ‘An Afternoon Of History’ in Knocklong Hall from 3 to 5pm on Sunday, December 29.

The first speaker will be Mr Oliver Doyle, retired CIE Systems Manager and Railway Historian. He will speak about Knocklong Railway circa the 1920’s. He will be followed by Michael F O’Sullivan who is recognised as the foremost authority on the history of creameries in the country.

Courtesy of Blackrock Productions we will show some TG4 re-enactments of Solohead Beg and the Rescue of Sean Hogan.

The evening with conclude with Tom Toomey, historian and author of ‘The War Of Independence In Limerick 1919 – 1921’ chairing a discussion on proposals for the annual commemorations up to and beyond 2019.
