Co-op development plan appealed
As plans for the Castlelyons Fair Day on August 4 got underway this week, a spanner was thrown in the works as the committee found out that a mystery high profile wedding is to clash with their big community day.
James Ronayne revealed that they have done some digging and have found out that the bridal party has connections to the Castlelyons area, but the Dublin event company who are booking the wedding would not give much away.
“This has thrown our well thought plans in a big heap, for want of a better word. We have not been made privy to all the facts, but it seems it’s a very high profile event with security involved and with room available at the wedding site for a helicopter to land.
“It seems the initial site requested was somewhere in the castle grounds, but we now believe that it will not be too far from there,” James said.
He added that they are hoping to come to some agreement so that both events can run at different times on the day,. Otherwise, James said there will be mayhem in Castlelyons as they will be trying to control crowds and redirect traffic for two different events.
“It is reportedly a wedding of some four hundred guests, many being brought by bus, others by limousine and apparently some will arrive directly from the airport,” James explained.
