While it is not very local to readers of The Avondhu, the HSE has organised a collection point in Cork city for the public to return used healthcare equipment on Friday 26th July and Saturday 27th July.

The equipment which was originally issued by the HSE and is no longer of use or need to an individual will be cleaned, recycled and re-issued to other patients.

Staff will be available at Unit 24, Doughcloyne Industrial Estate, Sarsfield Road, Cork from 10.00am to 4pm on both days. The following items can be returned to these sites: wheelchairs, walking frames, rise & recliner chairs, bath lifts, commodes, orthopaedic chairs and nebulisers.

For larger, heavier equipment such as hoists, electric mattresses and beds, call 021-4928267 or 021-4928268. Please note that crutches are not recycled as the integrity of crutches cannot be guaranteed after single use on health and safety grounds.

Gabrielle O’Keeffe, General Manager with the HSE it is important to note that healthcare equipment can be returned all year round to the HSE store in Doughcloyne Industrial Est., Sarsfield Road, Cork.
