A tractor run is being held in Glanworth this Sunday, August 24th in memory of teenager Micheál ‘Haulie’ Murphy.

The Glanworth community was left devastated last August when the 14-year-old passed away after falling from a tractor on the Killavullen to Glenville road. The St Colman’s College student was extremely popular in his area and had an enthusiastic love for sport and agriculture.

Now a year after his sudden death, this event has been organised to honour Haulie’s memory and to raise funds for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin. Registration for the tractor run will take place in Glanworth village at 11am for a cost of €20, and parking in a green area in the village will be provided for all taking part.

The route will take the tractors from Glanworth to Kildorrery, and then on to Castletownroche, Killavullen and Ballyhooly, before returning to Glanworth.

Organisers of the event are appealing to residents in these areas to show their support for the run as the tractors pass through their villages, and would like to apologise in advance for any traffic delays which may be caused.

The Rose Garden, Barry Park will provide tea and coffee, with a bouncing castle, face painting and a DJ on what is sure to be a successful day. Anyone seeking more information about the event can contact Ciaran Roche on 086 3497730.
