Handball for the Olympic games?

While there are a lot of versions of handball our own GAA game of handball where you use only the hands in courts 60×30, 40×20 and one wall, all played indoor except the one wall that can be played indoor and outdoor.

There was talk that this game would be included in the Olympic Games back in 1960 this did not happen because there was not enough countries taking part in 2012 the world handball championship were held in Ireland and 30 countries took part in City West in Dublin.

This again was the topic about handball entering the Olympic Games as Ireland now and for the last 15 years have been successful in different age groups our own Paul Brady from Cavan has held the highest grade for 15 years.

There is a great promotion in juvenile in all counties while there is a lot of promotion and travelling involved we are receiving the fruits of the game, the world handball champions were held in Ireland 1994, Canada 1997, Chicago 2000, in Ireland 2003, in Canada 2006, America 2009 Ireland 2012 Canada 2015 and will be held in Alaska in 2018.

We are hoping the people in top won’t forget our dream that our GAA game of handball be included in the Olympics.

No training this Saturday in the community youth centre we have 8 players in county 60×30 finals in Cullen.
