Green light for Mitchelstown gas injection plant

An Bord Pleanála has refused an appeal against the granting of planning permission for a renewable gas injection facility in Mitchelstown.

The facility had been granted planning by Cork County Council, however An Taisce had lodged an appeal to the planning agency.

The new plant will have the capacity to receive renewable gas produced from farm and food waste from multiple local producers.

It has the potential to heat up to 64,000 homes when operating at full capacity, while also supporting the decarbonisation of local agriculture.
