A number of frustrated house owners in the locality have been in contact with their local representatives regarding the high grasses in housing estates taken in charge by Cork County Council which have not been cut this summer. 

The green areas in Gracelands Estate in Rathcormac are just some of the many green areas in estates in the Fermoy area which have become completely overgrown and unsightly. 

Gracelands was taken in charge by Cork County Council over 30 years ago and for many of those years, the grasses were cut regularly. However, one resident explained that in recent years, Gracelands seems to be forgotten about, saying “this year has been the worst.” 

“It’s now a wilderness which, as an open space, cannot be enjoyed by children or pets,” the resident added.
