Can you guess the favourite recipe of Franc from The House of Franc? Something with pizazz and sparkle maybe? Well it's included in Grange National School's cookbook which was launched amid no little fanfare on Friday night last in the Pitch and Putt clubhouse at Fermoy's GAA complex.

The wine and cheese reception and home baking prepared from recipes contained in the cookbook went down a treat. MC for the night was Independent newspaper journalist and Fermoy resident, Ralph Riegel who more than coped with his range of duties over the course of what was, by all accounts, a most enjoyable evening. Special guest was the MEP Brian Crowley. Franc, aka Peter Kelly, also attended.

The book includes recipes from teachers, parents and the schoolchildren themselves along with others from members of the community and in business in Fermoy and around the area.

The illustrated cookbook was compiled by Grange Parents' Association in partnership with Grange National School as a school fundraiser. They were able to produce the book to a very high standard thanks to the sponsorship of businesses and individuals whose names are recorded in the book.

Priced at €10, it sold extremely well on the night. Anyone who wasn't able to attend can pick up their copy at a range of shops and outlets around Fermoy and in Mitchelstown too.

"It was a great night, we had a big crowd and quite a few sales," Mary Murphy of the Parents Association reported this week.
