Residents of Gortnaskehy in Araglin are once again seeking solutions as water sources runs dry in the area.
Strain is being placed on supplies nationwide during this ongoing dry spell, with notice also given this week to residents in counties Tipperary and Limerick, some areas noted as being under ‘severe pressure’.
Over the years, during periods of hot weather and particularly in the summer, those on the Gortnaskehy Water Scheme have been dealing with water outages, low pressure and dwindling supplies. Recently, water supplies in the area have again gone dry, affecting some 25 households, two public amenities and a number of farms in the area.
According to local resident, Bridget Leddy, a spring nearby the existing well could be used to supplement water supplies for locals.
