On Monday last, there was a change in Irish law, making it mandatory for people to wear face-coverings on public transport.

For those who fail to comply, a fine of up to €2,500 can be imposed or a maximum penalty of a 6-month jail sentence can also be brought to bear. 

Early compliance with the new regulations on public transport passing through Fermoy appears to have been particularly strong.

The Avondhu observed people boarding the 245 Bus Éireann bus this week, which passes through the town en route to Clonmel and Cork.
