With a variety of routes on offer to those willing to get on their bicycle over the Easter bank holiday weekend, the Great Glenville Cycle proved a success for organisers, with charities set to benefit.

It was billed as Glenville's Big Easter Cycle and big it certainly was. A great crowd of cyclists of all abilities turned out in the village on Saturday last. The bright sunshine which bathed the area certainly helped and made for a very pleasant event.

Three routes were marked out, giving something to suit riders of all levels, a 30km, 45km and, for the really ambitious, a 85km stretch.

Two charities will be better off as a result of the great effort and support for the event, organised by local man Eoin Haberlin. The new Glenville school hall, where Eoin's children go to school, was the local beneficiary, while the Irish Cancer Society was the national charity that gained.

Eoin had the help of Over the Hill Cycling Club in organising the event and it was also supported by The Edge Sports Shop. Thankfully, everyone made it back tired but unscathed, for refreshments afterwards in Kades Kounty.
