Generations of a community made their way to Glenville National School on Wednesday to bid farewell to local stalwart Mairéad O’Callaghan, as she retired after giving some 40 years of service and her entire career to the school.

Gathering in the school hall, pupils, past pupils, parents, teachers and members of the community shared their well-wishes, thanking Mairéad for her contribution not only to the school, but to the wider community and in particular, for her involvement with sport.

Speaking with The Avondhu, Oisín Dunne, principal of Glenville NS noted that Mairéad has been with the school for over 40 years, beginning and ending her career there.
