On this Saturday, June 17, Tom and Lourde Bryan and staff are delighted to welcome renowned Cork garden designer and horticultural consultant, Peter Dowdall to Toss Bryan’s Garden Centre to offer his vast expertise to locals, a visit is a must!

Peter is one of Ireland’s best known and most knowledgeable gardening personalities. Peter trained and worked in the UK and Channel Islands before returning to Ireland. His first book Gardening with Peter Dowdall – The Importance of the Natural World was published in 2010. The book focuses on the enjoyment that is to be had from gardening and looks closely at the role that gardening played in Peter’s five year struggle with cancer in his 20s.

He is a regular on TV and radio in Ireland and abroad, having worked for 5 years with TV3 and presented several series for RTE including How to Create a Graden and his collaboration with chef Richard Corrigan in the City Farm series. He has appeared on BBC and Channel 4 and several of his RTE programmes have been broadcast by networks as far away as South Africa and New Zealand.

Peter currently presents the gardening pieces on the RTE Today programme with Daithi Ó Se and is one of the most widely read gardening columnists in the country, through his weekly column in the Irish Examiner and he has a substantial online following as ‘The Irish Gardener’

During his visit to Fermoy on Saturday from 11.30am to 3.30pm, he will demonstrate how to plant hanging baskets and recommend the best plants to use; demo window box planting; talk about summer care for a healthy weed free lawn and answer gardening questions and give expert advice.

To mark the visit of Peter, Toss Bryan’s Garden Centre will have up to 20% off plants and other fantastic special offers. The Dulux dog will be in the shop 2 to 4pm, with free face painting for kids also to add to the occasion.

In addition, the Ronseal colour consultant will be instore with up to 20% off Ronseal garden paints. Then with the garden in tip-top shape it can be party time and you can buy a barbecue from the store’s extensive stock and you’ll be entered in a draw for a €100 voucher.
