Gardaí have linked up with County Council scientists to keep drinking water in Cork clean and safe to consume.
The Council said that the regular methods of checking the quality of tap water cannot be done during the Covid-19 outbreak.
To combat this, the council’s water services division have linked up with the gardaí who are now providing the samples from their station taps.
“Our Water Services continue to ensure the quality of our public drinking water supply with the help of An Garda Síochána. Garda stations across County Cork have stepped in as our new sources for water samples across public supplies.
“Samples normally taken at kitchen sinks in domestic houses under current restrictions are no longer possible, so innovative new ways to keep up with our testing programme and the protection of public health have been adopted,” a spokeswoman said.
