
Fears of Garda shortages in West Waterford have been voiced as Gardaí have yet to confirm whether members of An Garda Síochána retiring from the Tallow area will be replaced.
West Waterford, which once boasted two sergeants and 12 gardaí covering areas including Tallow, Lismore, Cappoquin, Aglish, Ardmore and surrounds, according to Cllr John Pratt, are now down to just one sergeant and five gardaí.
It is understood that one garda based in the Tallow area is due to retire towards the end of the month, with further retirements expected in the coming year.
