A ball for Transition Year students and 3rd Year students had to be cancelled by the management of Kicoran Lodge Hotel after nearly double the number of teenagers that could be catered for, turned up.

The teenage charity event had to be closed down after just 30 minutes when 600 students arrived on the night, some drunk or under the influence of alcohol.

One youth suffered a minor head injury and another youth was treated for excess alcohol consumption by ambulance personnel who, along with gardai, were called to the charity fundraiser that had attracted teenagers from many local towns including Mitchelstown and Cahir. 

Both teenagers were later handed over to the care of their parents.
