On Tuesday next (15th), a representative from the Muintir na Tire head office in Tipperary will attend a meeting in Galbally on the new text alert system, which is to be rolled out. The meeting takes place at 8pm in the community hall and all are welcome.

While there was a great turnout at last week's meeting, they are calling for people from all different areas to come along, so that each part of Galbally will have a connection in the system, particularly those towards the lower end of the parish near Garryspillane. This meeting will progress the text alert system further and through the meetings, connections and networks have already been set up between those who attended.

Official signs will also be made soon and there is also a possibility that Galbally and Aherlow will join up together, as Aherlow are getting a text alert system up and running and this would link the two areas very well.

Jim Fitzgerald told The Avondhu that if Ballylanders were to put a text alert system in place, it would mean that each area would have a network in place.

He also reminded people that Garda Natasha Walsh will start the Garda community clinics in the community centre on Thursday next, October 17, between 1pm and 3pm. She will be there to sign forms and speak to people and he added that she will visit people in their homes if the need is there.

Clinics will also take place on Wednesday, October 30 between 6pm and 8pm, on Wednesday, November 13 between 6pm and 8pm, on Thursday, November 28 between 4pm and 8pm, on Monday, December 9 between 3pm and 6pm and on Friday, December 20 between 6pm and 8pm.
