2018 was a never to be forgotten year for Gaelic games in Limerick, culminating with the Liam McCarthy Cup making its way back to Shannonside.

The village of Galbally supplied the man who oversaw this famous win and needless to say, locals take massive pride in the achievements of John Kiely.

Speaking at last Saturday night’s sell-out Galbally GAA Dinner Dance in Aherlow House Hotel, John reflected on how the stars aligned for his beloved club and county.

“I suppose one regret that I had last year was not getting to see all Galbally’s games, I was being kept up to date, but it’s not the same thing and I’ve always tried to get to as many Galbally games as I can.”
