Future of Fermoy Christmas Lights now in jeopardy

No representatives from local businesses, retailers, community groups or members of the public attended the Annual General Meeting of Fermoy Christmas Lights on Monday, June 15th, despite the meeting being widely advertised.

As a result, “there will be no Christmas lights in Fermoy this year or in future years unless new volunteers step forward to take on the responsibility of running the initiative,” a statement from the outgoing Fermoy Christmas Lights Committee stated afterwards.

Prior to the meeting, the group had urged the public to attend, to secure the future of one of the town’s most cherished traditions as the six long-standing committee members announced that they were stepping down after years of service.
