A local businessman has slammed an update by Irish Water on plans for upgrades to Mitchelstown’s Waste Water Treatment Plant as ‘totally unacceptable’.
An unknown budget has been allocated for works on the plant, but the situation is ‘technically complex’ and Irish Water have not yet applied for planning permission for the project, the state body told TD Seán Sherlock earlier this week.
“We recognise that this is a key project for Mitchelstown and we continue to push for this to get over the line,” Mr Sherlock said in response.
“I have written to the Taoiseach and I expect a reply from his Ministers on further updates for Mitchelstown, shortly. There’s a lot of work to do still on this project to restore confidence in Mitchelstown.”
