Councillors attending a meeting of the Northern Committee in Mallow this week, heard that for Rathcormac, funding for flood relief projects ‘may still be some years away’.
Under the OPW’s Catchment Flood Risk Assessment and Management (CFRAM) Programme, up to €1 billion was allocated for investment in flood management measures across the country over a ten year period, starting in 2018.
Kevin Costello, Senior Engineer for Flood Projects with Cork County Council told the meeting that funding under this programme was divided into two tranches across a decade, noting: “there is no guarantee that the works are imminent for Rathcormac.”
