Bank holiday Sunday, August 3, saw Funcheon Vintage Club hold its annual vintage run in aid of COPE Foundation, Mallow. Close on 60 vehicles made up mainly of cars and tractors turned out, startting in Kildorrery and travelling via Shanballymore, Ballinamona Cross, Skenakilla Cross, Rea's Cross, Castletownroche and Glanworth before heading back home to Kildorrery. Les Harding, a member of the organising committee, said participants paused for a minute's silence in Shanballymore as a tribute to two local club stalwarts, Pat O'Connor and Bob Dwane who died within a short time of each other last year.

"The run this year was held in their memory and will continue to do so into the future," Les said.

Another committee member, Martin Curtin said the club would like to thank the sponsors and all involved in making the event such a huge success.

"We are very grateful to our sponsors, ticket sellers, the stewards on the day and everyone who turned up with their vehicles for the run," Martin said.

Contributions are still coming in and anyone who may wish to contribute, can still do so by contacting Les or Martin or indeed any club member.
