It’s 20 years since Kay Magner from Ballyhooly opened the doors of d’Barbers in Fermoy. A lot of businesses have come and gone in the intervening 2 decades, however, this well run enterprise is going better than ever.
While Kay was the founder member, she selected her successor wisely in Caroline Roche from Kilworth. Building on what Kay achieved, Caroline has grown the business steadily over the years.
“It’s a significant anniversary that we wanted to mark, Kay was back with us for the day and we had a great time,” Caroline told The Avondhu.
Celebrations included a night out for Caroline, Kay and their staff, James O’Driscoll and Sean Long from Carraig-na-bhFear. It was an occasion to reflect on what’s been achieved and look to the future with confidence.
NOT POSSIBLE WITHOUT LOYAL CUSTOMERS
This 20th anniversary feature is also a way of thanking the many customers who keep returning to Caroline, James and Sean. One of the changes since ‘Kay’s time’ is the new online appointments system.
“Customers make their appointments using ‘Booksy’ which works really well, it’s easy to use and very handy,” says Caroline.
TRENDS COME AND GO, BUT CUSTOMER SERVICE IS KEY
Satisfied customers are the foundation of the d’Barbers success story and regulars keep returning to 7 Kent Street for their routine grooming. Outside of special occasions, men of all ages, but especially younger males, want to look and feel good and there’s no better feeling than emerging from d’Barbers with a stylish, head-turning look.
For some, a traditional hair cut is all that’s required, for others, it’s a skin fade or beard trim; whatever the requirement is, Caroline and co will look after it.
ALWAYS CHALLENGES, BUT THE SHOW GOES ON
As the ‘managing director’, Caroline has a lot on her plate, however, she’s a confident and progressive individual who, together with her team, works extremely hard every day. Good morale among the staff and positive interaction with customers makes it all worthwhile.
