Gardaí arrested a man during what has been described as ‘a frightening incident’ in a housing estate in Fermoy on Friday of last week.
Local sources have said that gardaí were called when a local man in his 20s, was acting in an aggressive manner in the Baile Ard estate in Strawhall. It is understood that the man was making threats on the roadway.
A garda spokesman has confirmed that an arrest was made by Fermoy Gardaí under the Public Order Act and a man in his 20s was taken to the station.
Sources have said that the gardaí have been paying attention to the area and are carrying out patrols.
A source said: “This is anti-social behaviour in the area and there are some people who are experiencing difficulties there. Locals are fearful which is understandable, but in this instance, the gardaí made an arrest and have dealt with the problem.”
